Throwback !!! - The Beaches of Havelock

Havelock has three lovely beaches. Each is very distinctive. The Kala Pathar Beach, also called Beach No.5 has incredibly iridescent blue waters and is semi-circular in shape with a gentle slope. On the minus side, there're a large number of hawkers and till lunch time it can be crowded with daytrippers.

Radhanagar Beach is the jewel in the piece. An incredibly long beach with a gentle, regular surf and a tropical forest rising at the edge of the sands. Enjoy swimming to the sound of incredibly  cheerful parakeets. Its incredible length means you can easily settle down to your own personal part of it. The slope is gentle and you can swim for hours far out  from the beach.

Elephant Beach is really unique. You need to trek through a forest to get to it and remember the spot on the beach where the trek exits. I got lost for a while trying to find my way back after a swim. There're some lovely coral beds close to the shore, so bring along your snorkeling gear. Giant skeletons of tsunami-toppled trees (Dec 2004) lie beached on the sands, making it look very surreal. So bring along a camera.
